Trustee training

Managing a scheme effectively can be challenging. It can be hard for trustees to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The Pensions Act 2004 increased the potential liabilities of pension scheme trustees and introduced the need to review existing practices and implement new procedures to stay compliant. It also means that defined benefit scheme trustees must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in three main areas:

  • the principles of funding and investment
  • the law relating to trusts and pensions
  • the documents particular to the scheme

Who is it for?

It would benefit scheme members considering undertaking the trustee role, newly appointed and experienced trustees who would like to keep the knowledge and understanding of their role up to date.

What does it cover?

It has been designed specifically to help trustees develop their pension knowledge to satisfy the requirements of The Pensions Regulator.

The course has been designed to complement The Pensions Regulator's Scope Guidance and serves as an introduction to their Trustee Toolkit. So having completed the training day at Royal London, trustees will be in a stronger position to get the most out of the modules available online.
